Family Health Centers of San Diego is looking for a Director, Substance Use Disorder to provide operational management and directives, and strategic planning for the Substance Use Disorders (SUD) service delivery programs as assigned. Ensures efficient and effective departmental operations while requiring compliance with all State, Federal and Local regulatory laws, standards, and protocols.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for all programmatic audits and grant reports for assigned programs.
  • Build and maintain community linkages and support for the assigned site(s)/department(s) within the service area.
  • Build positive relationships, inspire others to perform at a higher level, prepare career development plans.
  • Recruit, train, develop, engage, and retain an accountable workforce.
  • Coach and counsel staff, administer appropriate disciplinary action in a timely manner.
  • Ensure applicable regulatory and department standards are adhered to on an on-going basis (The Joint Commission, OSHA, PCMH, etc.). Responsible for all programmatic audits and grant reports for assigned programs.
  • Generate and implement plans for realizing maximization of SUD service programs within the FHCSD system based upon identified community needs, and other changes occurring at local, state and federal level.
  • Lead, educate, coach and mentor others on LEAN continuous process improvement philosophy, tools and application to accomplish organizational goals.
  • Keeps facilities and departments clean, neat, organized and/or patient friendly including way-finding signage and other visual controls in accordance with FHCSD visual management standards.
  • Prepare budgets for the site(s) and department(s) assigned, review all purchasing requests and monitor all expenditures according to approved proposed budgets and maximize revenue to ensure adequate to support programs.
  • Maintains key community relationships to enhance the agency's ability to serve. Develop agency-wide grant collaborations opportunities. Connect the local community to FHCSD programs. Develops and implements appropriate Substance Use Disorder patient engagement plans. Based on community needs assessments, focus groups, advisory groups, or other forms of patient/client/community feedback, develops programs, and recommends new services to support the identified needs of the service community.
  • Seek out opportunities to grow and expand Substance Use Disorder Services, particularly with respect to anticipated federal and local funding.
  • Develop program proposals on new initiatives outlining how the program interfaces with SUD Services and other FHCSD programs. Proposals clearly outline how the new program will be operationalized.
  • Participates as an effective member of the Director's Council. Makes decisions with thoughtful and clear consideration on the impact to entire agency and not solely based on own business unit.
  • Participate in continuous improvement activities and ensure appropriate Lean tools (i.e., 5S, A3) are deployed and results are evaluated and/or measured.
  • Provide administrative support, guidance, and oversight to programs. Ensures sufficient staffing, efficient flow, and a positive work environment. Ensures all providers meet required productivity levels. Responds appropriately to provider satisfaction surveys.
  • Provide/ensure staff receive all new hire and annual training on time.
  • Responsible for developing plans to support continued program development, identifying new funding opportunities with Development Department, and assisting with completion of program design and related proposals.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in public health, Business, Health Care, Nursing, or closely related field required. Master's degree preferred.
  • SUDC certification preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience working in the field of addiction.
  • 5 years of program management in healthcare management or public health required.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite and other software programs necessary for tracking, performance, and reporting.
  • Bilingual in Spanish/English preferred.
  • Ability and means to travel as needed in a timely manner within San Diego County. DRIVER REQUIREMENTS: Requires an active Class C California driver's license, proof of liability insurance at $100,000, on vehicle used. No more than 2 points in past 12 months; No suspensions in last 2 years for moving violations; No DUI, reckless or felony Driving within 5 years. No license revocation in 7 years.

    In the spirit of pay transparency, we are excited to share the base range for this position, exclusive of fringe benefits or potential bonuses.

    If you are hired at Family Health Centers of San Diego, your final base salary compensation will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, jurisdictional requirements, skills, education, and/or experience. In addition to these factors - we believe in the importance of pay equity and consider internal equity of our current team members as a part of any final offer. Please keep in mind that the range mentioned above is what we reasonably expect to pay for the role. Hiring at the maximum of the range would not be typical in order to allow for future and continued salary growth.
