Depending on the experience and qualifications of the selected candidate, this position will be hired at the Clinical Quality Improvement Specialist III or IV level.

DESCRIPTION

The Clinical Quality Improvement Specialist (CQIS) role is an important, high-profile position in the organization involved in the establishment and supervision of processes to achieve the optimal degree of excellence in the services rendered to every patient. This person will manage clinical improvement initiatives from data collection, analysis and reporting to improvement plan development and monitoring implementation. The success of this role is dependent upon excellent interpersonal, communication, process improvement and data use skills. In addition to PI initiatives, this role supports medical staff committees, organization-wide Quality & Patient Safety education and regulatory compliance.

Applies skills and experience as a seasoned quality data and/or improvement (QI) specialist to projects of medium size at all levels of complexity, or to portions of large projects. The CQIS independently performs the full range of responsibilities within the function; possesses broad job knowledge; analyzes problems/issues of diverse scope and determines solutions.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's Degree in nursing (BSN) or other health discipline. Or a combination of comparable clinical education and/or experience.

  • Three (3) years of relevant clinical experience or licensed clinician in the State of California (e.g., Nursing, Pharmacy, Respiratory, etc.)

  • Experience and proven success in project management, QI standards, clinical chart review and abstraction, and regulatory requirements.

  • Proficiency in the use of computer programs including MS office: Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • MSN or Master's Degree in health-related field.

  • Five (5+) or more years of relevant clinical experience.

  • Data analysis experience.

  • Experience with quality improvement methodologies.

  • Lean/Six Sigma training and/or experience.

  • Experience with Epic.

  • Experience managing Medical Staff Committees.

  • Experience with medical record review and data abstraction for CMS measures, Mortality, Sepsis, Code/Blue, and/or Psychiatry.

  • Expertise in the development and implementation of complex projects including multi-disciplinary teams to facilitate change throughout the health system.

  • Experience with chart review including the creation and presentation of case summaries that identify system issues through to the development and implementation of action plans.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS
  • Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.

  • Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.

  • To be eligible for the Quality Improvement HC Specialist IV, the selected candidate must have a Bachelor's degree in a health-related field, and demonstrated five (5+) or more years of extensive experience, proven success, and in-depth knowledge of QI standards, clinical chart review and abstraction, and regulatory requirements.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $91,300 - $170,700 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $43.73 - $81.75

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
